Influence of the First French Designer on Today’s Fashion
Rose bertin was the first French fashion designer. I found this image dated C.1780 on Wikipedia by Jean-Francois Janinet and thought to share it on this blog. She was first introduced by Queen Marie Antoinette in 1772. She was famous hat maker and dressmaker of Queen Marie Antoinette.
She made her debut with Queen Marie Antoinette clothing. Both with their keen fashion sense are responsible for making France as a fashion pioneer of the world.
Bertin made gowns which were embellished with ropes of stones and pearls as her queen does not use to wear necklaces. She used satin, velvet, silk and many other types of fabrics in her clothing.
Every woman could easily purchase hats instead of expensive gowns to up her fashion statement. She became a trend setter of heavy pouf hairstyles with pad boufs. During 18th century she started making dolls costumes which were highly appreciated and accepted by fashion lovers. She established French fashion globally.
Many bollywood celebs such as Aishwarya Rai, Zareen Khan and Katrina Kaif look awesome in French gowns. You too can explore your French style with evening gowns and flashy hair styles and increase your glam appeal.
